This picture was taken by our new pal Hugo on our trip back from Tariquia to Tarija. Go to my site on Flickr to see pics of Tariquia. After hiking 8 hours (and waiting, for various things, at least 4 hours) that day in the hot jungle, we had another 4 hours in the back of a pickup trip to make it back home. The ride was bumpy, dusty, cold, and long. We were hungry, thirsty, sore, and exhausted. Our hairs got mussed up a lot. But, the sky was clear, the moon was full, and the stars were beautiful. So it was all worth it (in my opinion. i speak for nobody else).
Me and Enrique, our local Guarani guide, in the Aguarague forest. He took us to where his small rural community, Chimeo, dams the stream and extracts water for their community. The dam is guarded by a brown heron, who flew up into a tree upon our arrival and watched us.
This is my second blog. It shows a dragonfly larvae we plucked from a stream while exploring in Aguarague Reserve. He and his larvae friends were floating in a pool of the stream hunting tadpoles.
This is my first blog. I am officially a real nerd now. That makes me sad, like in this picture. But in this picture I am sad because I have just realized that I am covered in ticks after our hike in Aguarague. And that I have a 12 hour bus ride in front of me before I can get to my home and strip and shower and find every last one on my body.
